The first part of the day will be dedicated to the “St. Maria Assunta Cathedral” , also known as St. Gennaro Cathedral and was built at the end of the XIII century by Carlo D’Angiò; It is one of the largest churches in the city and the most important place of Catholic worship in Naples. Inside the Cathedral you can find the greatest treasures, among them St. Restituta  Basilica (the oldest Cathedral in  Naples, built by the Emperor Costantino I 306-337) and the Royal Chapel of St. Gennaro’s Treasure built in the Seventeenth Century with the help of the whole population of Naples. Then we Visit the historical centre of Naples and St. Severo Chapel inside which you can see the famous “Veiled Christ”, one of the most famous and suggestive sculptures in the world made by a young Neapolitan artist, Giuseppe Sanmartino. This sculpture represents Jesus Christ on his death bed, covered with a transparent shroud all sculptured in one piece of marble. We will stop for lunch in a restaurant during the tour. In the afternoon we will visit the Basilica of St. Francesco di Paola, which characterizes the beautiful Plebiscito Square, built between 1816 and 1836, to imitate St. Peter's Basilica in Rome; in fact it is similar to the forms of the Pantheon with a circular plant and a hemispherical dome. It was built following a project of an architect of Lugano and it was dedicated to the Calabrian saint who lived in Naples. In the evening we return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast in the hotel, meeting with the guide and full day tour of Pompeii. The morning will be dedicated to the visit of the Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary. It is located in the main square, dedicated to “Bartolo Longo”, founder and benefactor of the Sanctuary. The first stone was laid on the 8th of May of 1876 by the Bishop of Pompeii who built the new St. Salvatore parish Church  to lodge a confraternity of the Rosary. The imposing religious building has a Latin cross plant with a nave, two aisles and four chapels at the bottom of the nave. A painting on canvas (cm 120x 100) of late Seventeenth Century, mounted in a bronze elegant frame, is object of popular worship and devotion and it represents the Virgin surrounded by olive branches, roses and fifteen Medallions where the Mysteries of the Rosary are painted. Lunch will be in a local restaurant, in the afternoon we will visit the archaeological ruins of Pompeii, the city destroyed together with Herculaneum and Stabiae by a flow of ash, lapillus and lava during the eruption of the Volcano Vesuvius in 79 B.C. In the evening we return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, departure for Padula. The morning will be dedicated to the visit of the Sanctuary of Getsemani in Paestum, one of the earliest religious architectures of the territory of Capaccio, a town in the district of Salerno. According to Luigi Gedda, it was built between 1956 and 1959 on a project of the architect Ildo Avetta. The Sanctuary was built on two floors: the upper church is surmounted by a dome with polychromatic stained-glass windows. In the lower church you find the impressive marble statue of Jesus Christ during His prayer in Getsemani and on the walls, some artistic ceramics representing some saints venerated in the South of Italy. After the visit, lunch in a restaurant in Padula and a tour of the famous St. Lorenzo Chartreuse, one of the largest and most important in Europe. It was built by the Count Tommaso Sanseverino at the beginning of the Fourteenth Century . At the beginning of the nineteenth century with the arrival of Napoleon, the Chartreuse was abandoned and it was deprived of its books and its artistic assets; its recovery began during  the 60’s. In the evening return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast in the hotel and departure to Caserta. First stop in Capua to visit the Benedictine St. Angelo in Formis Basilica, one of the most significant Romanesque structures, with some important Byzantine frescoes, built in X Century on the ruins of the temple dedicated to Diana Tifatina. Then a visit to the Medieval Village of the “Old Caserta”. Lunch in a local restaurant, in the afternoon we will stop in San Leucio, a hamlet of the commune of Caserta, famous for historical and artistic reasons, located 3,5 km to the Northwest of the city. Before having its present name, it was a feud of the Counts Acquaviava of Caserta known as “Palazzo del Belvedere Palagio Imperiali”. In 1750, Acquaviva’s possessions passed to the Bourbons of Naples. In 1773 Charles of Bourbon decided to build a solitary retreat to spend some free time and he called it St. Leucio from the ruins of a Chapel dedicated to St. Leucio that was in that area. In the evening return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Breakfast in the hotel and departure for the Sanctuary of Montevergine located on the massif of Partenio about 1270 meters above sea level overlooking the city of Avellino. The Abbey of Montevergine is the most famous and revered Sanctuary in Campania and was built at the end of the XIII Century with its adjoining monastery. The creator was Bartolomeo di Capua and he left it to the Benedictines of Montevergine. It obtained its current appearance in the middle of the eighteenth century, when on designs of some students of Domenico Antonio Vaccaro, it was covered with plasters by Domenico and Nicola Farinari and altars and marble floors where added. In the middle of the XVII century, the beautiful high altar was built by Bernardino Landini, while in 1861 the picture of Montevergine Virgin Mary was painted by Benedetto Troisi and also some of Paolo De Majo’s paintings of the XVIII century. Lunch in a local restaurant and departure for Pietrelcina, Saint Pio’s hometown. Accommodation in the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
